Warranty & Care

Each set of pipes is built with precision and care using high-quality materials, including both natural and synthetic components, designed to perform reliably with proper use and maintenance.

Warranty Coverage

Gibson Great Highland Bagpipes, Fireside Pipes, and Ceilidh Pipes are covered by a 10-Year Limited Warranty against defects in materials and workmanship present at the time of manufacture.

If a manufacturing defect is identified, Gibson Bagpipes will repair or replace the affected component at our discretion.

Proof of purchase is required for all warranty claims.

What Is Not Covered

This warranty does not cover damage resulting from use, handling, or environmental conditions, including but not limited to:

  • Damage caused by impact, drops, or mishandling
  • Breakage caused by excessive force (including forcing or freeing stuck joints)
  • Cracking, movement, or separation of wood due to humidity, temperature changes, or storage conditions
  • Changes in fit due to wood movement, hemp wear, or environmental factors
  • Normal wear and tear from regular use
  • Damage resulting from improper maintenance or lack of maintenance
  • Modifications or repairs performed by others
  • Pipe bags, reeds, cords, covers, and all other consumable or accessory components

Material & Environmental Considerations

Bagpipes are constructed from a combination of materials, including wood and synthetic components. These materials may respond to environmental conditions over time.

Changes such as expansion, contraction, minor cracking (in wood components), or shifts in fit due to humidity and temperature are normal and are not considered manufacturing defects.

Warranty Evaluation

All warranty claims are subject to inspection and determination by Gibson Bagpipes.

If an issue is determined not to be a manufacturing defect, repair options will be provided.

Care & Maintenance

Proper care and maintenance are essential to the longevity and performance of your instrument.

General Care

  • Store your pipes in a stable environment, avoiding extreme temperature and humidity changes
  • Avoid prolonged exposure to very dry or very humid conditions
  • Always handle joints carefully and avoid forcing components

Hemp & Joints

  • Keep hemped joints properly maintained
  • If a joint becomes too tight, do not force it — adjust or replace the hemp
  • Applying excessive force to stuck joints can result in damage

Moisture & Storage

  • Ensure moisture control systems are functioning properly
  • Allow your instrument to dry appropriately after playing
  • Avoid storing pipes in damp or sealed environments for extended periods

Regular Maintenance

  • Periodically inspect your instrument for fit, condition, and function
  • Address minor issues early to prevent larger problems
  • Seek professional service when needed
