Our African Blackwood Practice Chanter with Engraved Nickel is our highest-end practice chanter configuration.

African Blackwood is the same dense, stable hardwood traditionally used in premium Great Highland Bagpipes. Combined with a solid engraved nickel sole and ferrule, it gives this model a substantial, balanced feel that many experienced players and instructors prefer during extended practice.

The engraved fittings add both weight and visual detail, while the Blackwood body gives the chanter the refined character expected from a traditional premium instrument.

Every Gibson practice chanter now includes our new Moisture-Control Top as standard. The removable mouthpiece helps manage moisture during regular practice, while the open internal design avoids adding noticeable airflow resistance and preserves the familiar response and playing characteristics of the Gibson practice chanter line.

Because African Blackwood is a natural material, subtle variations in color and grain will occur from one chanter to another.
