Gibson Stealth 2 Drone Reeds are designed around a fixed, pre-set tongue geometry that prioritizes stability, resonance, and tonal depth.
Each reed uses a precision-fit plastic collar to hold a long carbon fiber tongue in a controlled relief. Rather than relying on the tongue to flex itself into position under air pressure, the tongue begins operation in a stable, factory-set configuration. This allows the reed to start cleanly, settle quickly, and maintain consistency once properly set.
As the reed vibrates, the collar itself flexes slightly, creating a secondary vibration point. This interaction increases resonance and projection, producing a sound that is bold and bass-driven, with a vibrant texture that remains clear without becoming harsh or overly buzzy.
Stealth 2 Drone Reeds are designed for simple, tool-free adjustment. No screws or specialized tools are required. Because of their precision geometry, these reeds may take slightly more initial setup time than some designs, but careful adjustment is rewarded with exceptional sound quality and long-term stability once dialed in.
The reed bodies are manufactured from acetal (Delrin), which does not absorb moisture, while the long carbon fiber tongues handle moisture exceptionally well. Together, these materials allow Stealth 2 reeds to hold pitch and strength reliably across a wide range of temperature and humidity conditions.
Proudly made in the USA, Stealth 2 Drone Reeds are built for players who prioritize sound quality, consistency, and performance in both solo and full band settings.

VERY GOOD!!! After a minor adjustment to the reeds, they are fine. MY
back round of playing the pipes is very interesting. I was 26 years old when I learned the Pipes. The fellow who taught me did not want to at first because of my age, then when I told him I am Marine and fought in Vietnam, he relented and said 'OK HOW EVER YOU WILL HAVE TO PRACTICE MORE THAN AN HOUR A DAY AND THAT I DID!". So I did.
Now I am 76 and still play, however my fingers are not as nimble any more, I have reduced my ability. I live near Grandfather Mnt in NC and
being that high up I have problems with drone reeds, then I came across yours reeds and fine them better and more balance !!
Excellent Job

Helping this novice bagpiper with strike ins, cut offs and maintaining consistent tone. Thanks much.
Steam boat bass for days . Love em
As with any new addition to a set of pipes set up is required. So far the sound and harmonics are awesome. Looking forward to giving them (drone reeds) more playtime.
